We are partnering with Henning Larsen

Today, we’re announcing a partnership with Henning Larsen Architects to build better AI creative tools for architecture.

Note from Diego Rodriguez

I met Nitsan Bartov from Henning Larsen Architects during a trip to New York City.

On paper, Nitsan is an architect and a PhD Fellow at Henning Larsen Architects and the Royal Danish Academy. But I learned he is more than that: someone who is avidly trying to figure out how to weave one of the most consequential creative technologies with one of the oldest artistic disciplines.

Soon after, Nitsan and the Henning Larsen team invited me to their New York office. There, they showed me an internal study about how generative AI tooling could support many parts of architectural practice: from benchmarking AI models for technical drawings of wayfinding systems and flood analysis, all the way to workflows involving a mix of LLMs and diffusion models that worked well for upscaling and enhancing 3D renders made in Rhinoceros and Revit.

In a moment of personal pride, he also showed me a survey where he'd asked his team about their favorite AI tools for architecture and, to my pleasant surprise, they chose Krea as the #1 AI creative tool. Until then, I had no idea Henning Larsen was already using Krea!

The more time I spent with the Henning Larsen team, the more I felt in the presence of a firm that wanted to find ways to innovate in its field without sacrificing its craft or the legacy of architecture. And in a world where terms like “automation,” “the next big thing,” or “revolution” are part of the everyday lexicon, meeting a firm that can bring nuance, sobriety, open-mindedness, and normalcy to the table is, ironically, extremely rare—especially today, a time when words like “real” and “fake” are increasingly becoming synonyms.

It is my belief that only firms that act and remain sensible are the ones we would all be wise to stay close, follow, and learn from. Particularly during tumultuous times.

Staying true to those principles, we asked Henning Larsen to help us build the best AI creative suite for architecture.

The Partnership

Krea will work deeply with Henning Larsen Architects to develop AI tools shaped around real architectural practice.

Henning Larsen brings specific workflows, examples, constraints, internal studies, and standards. They have already spent time testing where generative AI helps architectural work, where it fails, and where better tools are needed.

We believe the best tooling can only be built by staying close to the world’s best-in-class creatives across all industries. In the case of architecture, that means working with professionals who care about speed and quality; industrial constraints; environmental and ecological requirements; and protections around data security, copyright, and compliance with the EU AI Act, where applicable.

Together, we can focus on what we do best: creative tooling and architecture.

We have the tremendous honor of calling many of the enterprises we work with “customers”. But with Henning Larsen, we also have the privilege of calling them our partners.

We believe the future of AI creative tools will be shaped by the people who know their craft best and architecture is no exception; if you're working at the intersection of architecture and AI, get in touch at [email protected]
