Krea 3 ranks above Nano Banana Pro on every leaderboard in this comparison, and it is the faster editor. On Arena’s Multi-Image Edit board, Krea 3 Ultra is #4 at 1435 and Gemini 3 Pro Image Preview (Nano Banana Pro) is #9 at 1365. On Design Arena, Krea 3 is #4 of 51 at 1298 Elo and Gemini 3 Pro Image Preview is at 1245. On Artificial Analysis, read October 20, 2026, Krea 3 Ultra is #5 at 1151 Elo and Krea 3 Fast is #11 at 1125, both ahead of Nano Banana Pro at 1106. On krea.ai/krea-3, Krea 3 is 10× faster, 3× cheaper, compared to GPT Image 2 and Nano Banana Pro. Most Krea 3 edits come back in under 8 seconds at native 2K. Nano Banana Pro still wins on some capabilities that are not a score: 4K output, Google Search grounding, long text in the image, and a separate pool of character images. The full tables are in Krea 3 benchmarks.
This guide is for performance marketers who make many ad and product variants. It covers speed, quality, what changes the cost, and the jobs where each model is the better pick.

How we compared Krea 3 and Nano Banana Pro
Benchmark scores come from Arena’s Multi-Image Edit page (dated October 19, 2026), Design Arena, and the Artificial Analysis image editing leaderboard, read on October 20, 2026. Artificial Analysis ranks models by Elo from blind comparisons judged by validated private evaluators. Capability facts for Nano Banana Pro come from Google’s image generation docs. Current prices are on Google’s Gemini API pricing page and on the Krea pricing page. This post does not quote them.
Then we ran both models ourselves. We sent the same input photo and the same prompt to each model through the Krea API, at 2K and 4:5. Each model got one run per edit. We did not rerun either model or pick a favorite output. Both prompts below come word for word from the Krea 3 media kit.
Is Krea 3 faster than Nano Banana Pro?
Speed is a real difference, and it is not a quality trade. Krea reports that most Krea 3 edits come back in under 8 seconds, end to end, at native 2K. Its fastest setup finishes an edit in about 4 to 5 seconds. Krea 3 is not real time yet. Ultra mode reviews several candidates, is always 2K, can take several minutes, and needs a Max plan or above.
Google does not give a per-image time for Nano Banana Pro on its pricing or image generation pages. The docs do say Nano Banana Pro runs a thinking process on complex prompts and makes interim “thought images” before the final output. The clearest view of the gap is Krea’s own launch video, which puts the two models on the same perfume edit side by side.
For a performance team, the time per edit sets how many ideas you see before a launch slot closes. Krea’s CEO put the speed this way:
"Editing models are already used across e-commerce, film and advertising, but most of their potential is still held back by speed. Krea 3 removes the tradeoff between speed and quality, delivering high-quality edits in under 8 seconds, end-to-end, at 2K native resolution."
Is Krea 3 better than Nano Banana Pro on quality?
On the three public boards in the table above, yes. Krea 3 ranks above Nano Banana Pro on each of them.
- Arena, Multi-Image Edit. Krea 3 Ultra is #4 at 1435. Gemini 3 Pro Image Preview (Nano Banana Pro) is #9 at 1365. The page is dated October 19, 2026.
- Design Arena. Krea 3 is #4 of 51 at 1298 Elo. Gemini 3 Pro Image Preview is at 1245. Krea is the #2 image-editing lab after OpenAI.
- Artificial Analysis, live October 20, 2026. Krea 3 Ultra is #5 at 1151 Elo, rank range 3–6, statistically tied for #3 with Nano Banana 2.1 and MAI-Image-2.6. Krea 3 Fast is #11 at 1125. Nano Banana Pro is at 1106. Fast’s lead over Nano Banana Pro is the larger of the two Krea gaps. The gap between Fast and Nano Banana 2 (1124), a different Google model, is inside the noise. That tie does not apply to Nano Banana Pro.
A leaderboard does not pick your ad for you. The side-by-side tests below show what the two models do with the same brief.
How do Krea 3 and Nano Banana Pro handle the same sneaker edit?
Many everyday edits use a short, plain prompt. Here is one, sent to both models with the same white sneaker packshot.
Place this exact sneaker on a sunlit concrete step outside a city café, morning light, shallow depth of field. Keep the shoe exactly the same.
Sneaker test: input, Krea 3, Nano Banana Pro
Left to right: input, Krea 3, Nano Banana Pro. Same input and prompt, one run each at 2K and 4:5, made through the Krea API on October 13, 2026.
Both models kept the shoe: the same white leather, the same laces and the same sole. Krea 3 framed it wider, with the café front and long morning shadows in view. Nano Banana Pro framed it closer, so the shoe fills more of the frame and the café blurs into the back. To us, both outputs read as usable lifestyle shots. The choice comes down to framing.
How do Krea 3 and Nano Banana Pro handle a long perfume brief?
The second test is a long, art-directed brief with a label that must survive: the white NIMBUS text on a frosted bottle.
Keep the perfume bottle exactly as in the reference image: same frosted seafoam pebble-shaped glass body, same melted-droplet chrome cap and the same white NIMBUS text. Restage it as an open-sky contre-jour fragrance campaign shot: vertical low-angle frame of a hand with bare natural nails raising the bottle up against a deep saturated cobalt summer sky with a few bright white cumulus clouds, the sun just behind the bottle so the frosted seafoam glass glows from within and the chrome cap catches a hot white rim highlight, a faint genuine lens flare bloom at the upper edge, palette of deep cobalt sky then glowing seafoam glass then white cloud then chrome then warm skin, 12:1 contrast against the sky, bottle at 55% across in the upper half, the hand entering from the bottom edge cropped at the wrist, lower left of the sky left empty, 70mm, 4:5, deep focus, clean digital finish, Y2K fragrance advertising photograph, no gradient sky filter, no added text.
Perfume test: input, Krea 3, Nano Banana Pro
Left to right: input, Krea 3, Nano Banana Pro. Same input and prompt, one run each at 2K and 4:5, made through the Krea API on October 13, 2026.
Both models kept the bottle shape, the chrome cap, the NIMBUS text and the small “eau de parfum 50 ml” line. In both outputs the NIMBUS text reads grey against the backlit glass, not white. Krea 3 kept the oval label panel from the input, and its hand enters from the bottom edge as the brief asked. Nano Banana Pro shows a larger sun glow behind the bottle and a faint halo arc near the top edge. Krea 3 put a small rainbow flare beside the cap instead. Krea 3 filled the lower left of the sky with clouds, where the brief asked for empty sky. On a brief this long, each model missed a detail, so budget for a retry with either one.
How does cost compare?
Krea 3 is 3× cheaper, compared to GPT Image 2 and Nano Banana Pro. Current dollar figures are on the Krea pricing page and on Google’s Gemini API pricing page. This post does not quote them. Google also offers Batch and Flex tiers for jobs that can wait. The amounts are on that page.
What a Krea 3 generation costs changes with mode (fast, high, or ultra), resolution (1K or 2K; Ultra is 2K only), and how many reference images you attach (up to 8).
Retries change how many generations you pay for. Plan with the number of variants you need times the tries you expect per keeper, then apply the live price per image. Put your own tries-per-keeper number in that plan.
Where does Krea 3 win for performance marketing?
Krea 3 fits work where you make many variants of one approved product, and the leaderboard gap above is the quality case for doing it on Krea. It keeps the product as it is, down to the label and the logo, and builds a new scene around it. A packshot on white becomes a campaign photo.
The headphones below show an on-model ad shot made from one product photo. The prompt names what must stay, then describes the shot like a photographer would.
Keep the headphones exactly as in the reference image: same translucent ice-blue earcups with visible internal circuitry, chrome sliders and yoke, white perforated cushions and pale grey mesh headband. Put them on a model for an on-model e-commerce campaign shot: vertical shoulders-up side-profile portrait of a young woman with a sleek low bun and dewy skin wearing the headphones, a silver metallic high-neck zip top, eyes closed, chin slightly raised, against a flat saturated cerulean workwear-blue seamless paper backdrop, one hard unmodified flash 30 degrees to camera left throwing a crisp navy shadow of her profile onto the backdrop behind, bright specular pops on the chrome yoke and the clear shell, palette of cerulean field then ice-blue translucent plastic then silver then warm skin, 6:1 contrast, head at 45% across with the headphone earcup as the sharpest focal point, right third of the frame left as empty blue field, 85mm, 4:5, deep focus, clean digital finish, early-2000s tech advertising photograph, no gradient, no rim light, no added text.
Product photo to on-model ad with Krea 3
Krea 3 also handles precision edits: ask it to change one thing and it changes one thing. That suits ad variants, where the layout, the brand line and the logo are approved and only the product changes. The sequence below is from the Krea 3 page. The first edit re-skinned a grocery billboard for a pasta brand from three inputs: the billboard, the pasta and the new brand artwork. The tagline, the frame and the street stayed in place. A second edit swapped only the pasta for a banana. In that edit the headline, the tagline, the logo and the street stayed in place.
One billboard, two Krea 3 edits
For teams that edit the same image many times, the Krea API has regional edits (regional_edit: true) on fast and high. Only the parts that need to change regenerate, and everything else stays exactly as it was. You can edit the same image again and again without quality loss. ultra does not support regional_edit. The Krea developer docs cover the fields.
Where does Nano Banana Pro win?
Krea 3 ranks above Nano Banana Pro on Arena, Design Arena, and Artificial Analysis. Nano Banana Pro is still the better pick for some capabilities. None of these is a leaderboard score.
- 4K output. Nano Banana Pro makes 1K, 2K and 4K images. Krea 3 makes 1K and 2K, and Ultra is 2K only. If a print or out-of-home file needs 4K from the model, Nano Banana Pro does it. Current 4K rates are on Google’s pricing page.
- Grounding with Google Search. Nano Banana Pro can use Google Search to make images from real-time data, such as weather maps or stock charts.
- Long text in the image. Google lists “advanced text rendering” for infographics, menus, diagrams and marketing assets. Krea 3 is weaker at long text, and small text is still a weak spot.
- Separate character references. Google’s docs list up to 6 object images plus up to 5 character images for Nano Banana Pro. Krea 3 takes up to 8 reference images in one set. The separate character slots are Nano Banana Pro’s, and they are not the same counter as Krea’s eight.
- Batch tier for jobs that can wait. Google offers Batch and Flex tiers. Check the current rates on Google’s pricing page.
Where Nano Banana Pro stops: Google adds a SynthID watermark to every generated image. On the boards above, Krea 3 ranks ahead of it.
Where does Krea 3 stop?
These are the known limits of Krea 3:
- Small text is still a weak spot. Small-text rendering is still slightly behind the strongest models. Check every letter on a label or a price tag before you ship.
- Long text and full style changes. Krea 3 is weaker at long text rendering and full style changes. It is best at product scene changes, object removal and photo cleanup.
- Identity across edits. Identity across edits is not perfect, like the rest of the field. Review faces across a campaign set.
- Not real time. Most edits take under 8 seconds, and the fastest setup takes about 4 to 5 seconds. Ultra can take several minutes. That is fast for the default mode, and it is not live.
- Retries. Every editing model gets things wrong sometimes. Budget for retries as a rate.
- No 4K tier. Krea 3 outputs 1K and 2K. For a larger final file, run the output through the Krea Enhancer.
- Dedicated style references and LoRA training are coming soon. They are not on Krea 3 yet.
Krea 3 or Nano Banana Pro: which should you pick?
- Pick Krea 3 when you make many variants of one approved product, test creative at volume, or need a fast answer to judge the next idea. It is the model ahead on Arena, Design Arena, and Artificial Analysis, and it is 3× cheaper, compared to GPT Image 2 and Nano Banana Pro.
- Pick Nano Banana Pro when you need 4K straight from the model, images built from live search data, long dense text inside the image, or Google’s separate character-image slots.
- Use both when the stakes are high. Krea’s model library includes Nano Banana Pro next to Krea 3, so you can run one brief through both and keep the better output.
A simple test plan works for most teams. Take ten real briefs from your last campaign. Run each one through both models with the same input and prompt. Count the keepers, the retries and the time to a usable ad. Those three numbers tell you which model fits the work.
